Fourth-year students of the Department of Forest Engineering, Faculty of Forestry, Isparta University of Applied Sciences, carried out hands-on training in the forested area of Güneyce Village and at the Sav Forest Products Depot on 06.10.2026, as part of the Vocational Training in Enterprise (VTE) course. The training was attended by Necip BÜYÜKYILDIRIM, Operations and Marketing Branch Engineer of the Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry, and Kemal SARAÇOĞLU, Davraz Operations Chief of the Isparta Forest Enterprise Directorate. In the program, conducted as part of the activities of the Operations and Marketing Branch of the Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry, students were given information on the types of marking hammers used in forestry, marking procedures, and the planning and recording of production work. Explanations were also given on occupational health and safety in production activities, personal protective equipment, and the safe use of chainsaws. In the field, determining the felling direction of trees, cutting the undercut, and controlled felling operations were demonstrated in practice.
In the continuation of the program, the students visited the Sav Forest Products Depot, where they examined the processes of measuring, length-sorting, quality-based classification, stacking, and preparing roundwood for sale. While taking part in a debarking exercise, our students learned how features such as knots, rot, and sweep in logs affect product quality and areas of use. Dispatch documents, depot records, the formation of sales lots, and tender processes were also covered. In this way, our students had the opportunity to observe on site the entire process of forest products, from field production to storage and marketing. We thank the staff of the Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry and the officials of the Sav Forest Products Depot who contributed to the training, for sharing their knowledge and experience with our students.
