As part of the Vocational Training in Enterprise (VTE) course, a field-based practical training was held on 01.10.2026 in the areas of the Dinar Forest Enterprise Directorate, in cooperation with the Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry, with the aim of developing our students’ professional knowledge and experience in the field. The training was attended by Suat ALTINSOY, Chief Engineer of the Survey-Project Unit, and Mehmet YİĞCİ, Silviculture Branch Engineer, from the Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry, as well as Ahmet GÜLLÜ, Dinar Forest Enterprise Chief, and Hakan DOĞAN, Dinar Afforestation and Soil Conservation Chief. Students were given information on erosion control, soil conservation, and afforestation activities. Our students examined engineering structures such as live check dams, dry and mortared stone walls, and wire-mesh check dams on site, and learned about the construction stages and purposes of these structures. In addition, terrace layout, soil preparation with excavators, and planting techniques for bare-root and containerized seedlings were demonstrated in practice.
In the continuation of the training, young-stand tending, sprout control, thicket tending, thinning, and pruning operations were discussed, with emphasis on the importance of selecting and protecting future crop trees in tending interventions. During inspections in black pine regeneration areas, information was given on seed cuttings and release cuttings, and seedling counts for monitoring regeneration success were demonstrated in practice. In this way, our students had the opportunity to connect the knowledge they gained in class with fieldwork and to directly experience different forestry practices. We thank the Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry, the Dinar Forest Enterprise Directorate, and all the technical staff who shared their knowledge and experience with our students for their contributions to the realization of the program.
