As part of the TÜBİTAK Science Talks, a seminar titled "Wildlife Awareness and Türkiye’s Significant Large Mammal Species" was held on April 30, 2026, at Kayalı Kasabası Kepez Secondary School in the Karapınar district of Konya, featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin Ünal.
In a sincere and engaging atmosphere, information regarding Türkiye’s biodiversity, the critical importance of wildlife for ecosystems, and ongoing conservation efforts for large mammal species was shared with the students. The seminar focused specifically on the ecological roles of species such as the Anatolian leopard, lynx, wolf, brown bear, and roe deer, as well as the threats they face and the vital importance of nature conservation awareness.
The program, which garnered significant interest from the students, included the sharing of field research experiences accompanied by footage from camera trap studies. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session aimed at fostering a deeper sense of nature conservation consciousness among the youth.
