On April 27, 2026, a field application was conducted for the 4th-year students of the Department of Forest Engineering at Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Forestry. The study took place within the Turkish Pine (Pinus brutia) stands located in the Aşağıgökdere district of Eğirdir, Isparta, as part of the Forest Management course.
The field activities focused on determining stand structures, evaluating canopy cover and density, sampling methods, and types of forest inventory used in planning for operational objectives. Under the guidance of faculty members, students gained hands-on experience in the measurement and evaluation methods essential for preparing forest management plans.
During the field exercise, students were divided into four groups to collect sample plots from various locations. Data including diameter at breast height (DBH), tree height, age, silvicultural status, and quality classes were recorded in inventory sheets. The application aimed to provide students with on-site observation of ecosystem-based functional forest management planning approaches. Through this experience, students acquired significant practical insights into the planning processes they will encounter in their professional careers after graduation.
