On Monday, April 27, 2026, a consultation meeting titled "Current Status of the Mining and Marble Sector, Challenges, and Solution Proposals" was hosted by the Isparta Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Representing our University and Faculty, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Yasin KARATEPE and faculty members Prof. Dr. Mehmet KORKMAZ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin ÜNAL attended the event.
During the meeting, where the marble industry was discussed from a multi-dimensional perspective, our faculty members contributed by sharing their expertise within the framework of environmental sustainability and natural resource management. They provided valuable insights and solutions regarding the impacts of marble quarries on forest ecosystems and wildlife, the operation of quarries near residential areas, the rehabilitation of marble sites, and the challenges faced in the permitting, auditing, and sanctioning processes of these sites.
