The Faculty of Forestry at IUAS conducts leading international research across a broad spectrum of forestry disciplines. Our work in Forest Protection and Biotic Threats focuses on pests, diseases, biosecurity and tree health, while studies in Forest Ecology and Ecosystem Dynamics explore Mediterranean ecosystems, post-fire recovery, biodiversity and climate–vegetation interactions. Research in Tree Genetics, Seed Science and Silviculture examines genetic diversity, seed orchard performance, afforestation, forest restoration, ecophysiology and adaptive silviculture. The field of Forest Management and Remote Sensing integrates forest inventory, growth modelling, GIS, photogrammetry and biomass assessment to support data-driven planning. In Forest Economics and Policy, the Faculty addresses rural development, forest resource economics, markets and policy frameworks. Our research in Wildlife Ecology and Habitat Conservation includes species distribution modelling, ecological monitoring and conservation strategies, while Wood Science and Forest Products focuses on engineered wood technologies, composite materials, biomass-based products, wood chemistry and industrial innovations. Together, these areas form a comprehensive foundation for advancing forestry science and sustainable natural resource management.
