A technical visit to Mimar Sinanoğlu Furniture, operating in the Antalya Organized Industrial Zone, was successfully organized on April 20, 2026, by the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering. Conducted as part of the "Furniture Industry" course and supported by university resources, the visit was attended by the Head of Department Prof. Dr. Halil Turgut ŞAHİN, faculty members Prof. Dr. Abdullah SÜTÇÜ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Ali VAR, along with 2nd and 3rd-year students.
During the visit to the Mimar Sinanoğlu Furniture facilities—a company specializing in fixed and loose furniture production for hotels, residences, stores, and corporate structures globally, as well as turnkey projects—production processes were examined in detail. In the facility, which operates on a project-based and made-to-order production system, information was gathered regarding high efficiency, detailing solutions, functionality, and the integration of aesthetic design criteria into manufacturing. Specifically focusing on solid wood furniture production, the visit included evaluations of high value-added production in the national furniture industry and the sector's expectations from forest industrial engineers. Our students gained significant insights and professional vision by blending their theoretical knowledge with technical applications.
We would like to express our gratitude to the owners of Mimar Sinanoğlu Furniture, Mr. Serkant SİNANOĞLU, Mr. Bora SİNANOĞLU, and Mr. Özgür ATAKURT, for their kind hospitality and for sharing their sectoral expertise. We also thank Woodworking Industrial Engineer Mr. Süleyman MAT for his technical guidance throughout the visit. Furthermore, we extend our appreciation to the Rectorate of Isparta University of Applied Sciences and the Dean’s Office of our Faculty for providing the administrative permissions and transportation support necessary to realize this technical visit, which remains an integral part of our applied education.
